The Defence India Startup Challenge is an initiative by Defence Innovation Organization (under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India), in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission, aimed at supporting innovators to create prototypes and/or commercialize products/solutions based on advanced technologies in areas of national security through an equity linked grant-based mechanism.

During the first 9 months from Oct'18 to Jun'19, we aim to build proof for the execution / implementation success of the open defence innovation program and identifying bigger opportunities that may emerge.
During the next 12 months from Ju'19 to Jun'20, we aim to expand across the core areas proven in the exploration phase and exploiting emergent opportunities in the exploration phase.
Beyond Apr'20, we aim to establish a world-class Centre of Excellence for Defence Innovations covering advanced innovation labs, multiple theme/domain focused incubation/acceleration programs, alliances with the global defence tech/startup ecosystem, an independent seed fund for offering post-grant funding etc
